It's been an eventful past several weeks for our household. All three of us had a bad case of the stomach flu the week before we left for our Christmas trip. Luckily, it only lasted a few days and we felt back to normal before the holidays started. Clint was relieved to be finished with the first semester of school, coaching, directing and graduate studies.
Likewise, I was relieved to finally have some time where all three of us could relax and see family. We traveled to three different places for Christmas over a week's span (Olney, IL; Jefferson City, MO; Kansas City, MO). Avery did pretty well traveling and sleeping in the playpen in unfamiliar places. He got to try several new treats that he normally doesn't get to eat at home (like cinnamon rolls, stuffing and razzle dazzle berry pie) thanks to his grandparents. Avery has had fun playing with his new toys and we're thankful for the many gifts like clothes & diapers. Thanks again to our friends and families for the many gifts and time spent together.
Over New Year's, we were party animals and watched the "Shrek 2" special on TV. After putting Avery to bed at 8:00, I went to bed to read/fall asleep while Clint stayed up to watch "The Dark Knight". Nonetheless, we rang in the New Year with snoring.
The weekend of New Year's we hosted Avery's first birthday party after church with another couple (Mike & Rachel Tennison) who have a son (Andrew) who is only a few weeks older than ours. Rachel and I spent the day before decorating, baking the monkey cake and arranging food for the big event. Several friends from our Sunday School class came over and hung out for about an hour. It was sort of chaotic with so many young kids running around, but it sure was fun.
Tomorrow, we phase back into our old routine...
