Snippets from August

"Mama, I put in your earrings.  Then you be a woman."

Avery gets to choose a toy to take with him to be each night.  One particular night, he chose the stability ball pump he had been playing with all day.

"You're my princess, mama."

There is a stray cat that appears at our back door now and then.  Our son has claimed this cat as his own.  He decided to name the cat "Selfish".

Some "little boy" things we are playing with these days:  robots, snakes, hot wheels, blocks and transformers.

After watching a children's TV show, Avery learned about the "April Fool's" holiday and decided to start playing tricks on his parents.  One we thought was particularly funny was when he was trying to convince his  dad "Dad!  There's a table on your foot!"  His dad played along and looked down at his foot acting surprised.

Many times when Avery finds a shed hair on our carpet or chair, he will pick it up and put it back on the head he thinks it came from.

"Guprise!" = surprise

When Avery was little, I predicted his personality to be playful and fun-loving.  It is neat to see this even further develop as he grows up.  He still loves to make jokes, tease, be teased and tickled.

Sunday school is often a morning that Avery looks forward to.  He really enjoys interacting with the "other boys and girls".  One particular girl about his age seems to enjoy his company as well.  It appears that they share the similar socially outgoing and positive personality.  One morning, his Sunday school teacher caught up with us, grinned and said "We have a story for you."  Avery and his friend were play wrestling that morning.  His teachers friendly warned the two to be careful so no one gets hurt.  Avery piped up "It's OK, we're married.  She is going to sleep at my house."  Avery's logic is due an explanation we gave him one evening.  He often wants us to stay and sleep on the floor in his room after putting him down for bedtime.  We had to explain that mommy and daddy sleep in mommy and daddy's room at night.  He asked "Why?"  Tired, and not in the mood to provide a long explanation, we just explained that we were married and we share everything.
