Avery
He was invited to a birthday party of a girl in his class
and told us later that he invented a game there called “poison bombs”.
While standing in line at the grocery store, the cashier
from the lane behind us opened her register drawer to return change to a
customer. When Avery saw the open
drawer, he loudly exclaimed, “Ooooo! How
much money have yah got in there?!”
Then, he asked our cashier for some money so that he could show her a
magic trick.
I told Avery that he might start losing his teeth. He asked, “Will it hurt?”. I replied, “No, you will just notice one day
that a tooth feels kind of loose.” Avery
then asked “What happens if I lose my tongue and it REGENERATES?!”
He won a fake mustache at a game at church. Avery chose to wear it all afternoon and
refused to take it off even when it had slid over to the side of his cheek.
Avery, Aileen and I watch the movie Charlotte’s Web together one evening. During the credits, the kids enjoyed hearing
the music. Avery asked me “May I take
your hand?”, and then he proceeded to lead me to dance with him. Aileen followed.
Aileen
Really enjoys and sometimes insists that her brother hug and
kiss her goodnight and goodbye before he leaves for school.
Static electricity causes her hair to stand on end.
Music captures her attention. She will pause to listen if she hears it on
TV or certain songs on the radio. She
also loves to be sung to, especially before bed.
It’s a big even for Aileen when the trash truck comes. When she hears it, she runs to the window and
watches the truck pick up our trash and drive off in awe.
Bedtime is a sweet time of day. At first, it is a scramble chasing and
wrestling with Aileen to change her diaper and get on her pajamas. She thinks it is a game and will run off and
hide and squeal. Then, once we find her
Chiefs blankie, we carry her off to her bedroom. Then with the lights off and night light on,
I’ll sit on the rocking chair and ask her if she wants me to sing to her. Then, she calms down, hops up on my lap,
holds her blankie and sucks her thumb while I sing. She sometimes has song requests, and we are
at the point where we can actually understand her.
Aileen shows us an ornery side along with a sweet side. She enjoys leading us to her bedroom, and
then turning off the lights while running out of the room and shutting the
door. Then she toddles down the hallway
giggling to herself.
Asks us to sing "Old MacDonald" and then asks for the pig noises over and over again.
