Avery
Gets excited when he reads that something was “made in China”
because he learned all about the country in summer school.
Tried to convince Aileen that the cooled chocolate on top of
her granola was “burnt mud” to discourage her from eating it so that he could
partake an extra helping instead.
Jokingly tried to sell a missing dirty child’s sock that was
left on the playground to other kids at the park (whom he didn’t even know).
Upon picking him up from school, he announced that he wanted
the new nickname, “sly ninja” but he couldn’t convince the other kids to call
him by that.
Said his favorite number was “one zillion” unless it was
talking about “punches in the nose”.
He went to a birthday party that included a real pony. It was announced that the kids were going to
get to paint the pony and Avery objected, “But isn’t that illegal?!”
Newest interest now is Lego Ninjago.
Also has a fascination with rocks, minerals and gems.
Recently has been enjoying reading books on his own for pleasure.
Aileen
Calls her toy princess wand “my stick”
Needs to have her 3 baby dolls, stuffed kitty cat, sheep
purse, 3 elmos, blankie and book to sleep with in her crib.
Enjoys playing “library”.
She enters Avery’s room and collects books from his bookshelf in her
grocery cart. Then, she strolls the load
over to his bed, pulls out a “card” from her purse, checks her list, and uses a
swiping motion to “beep” her card to “check out”.
Naptime and night time routine includes (in order) turning
on overhead light, turning on ceiling fan, opening up both closet doors (if
they are already open, she shuts them and then opens them again), turning on
the closet light, turning off the overhead light, picking out a book, reading
the story sitting on my lap in the rocking chair, singing a series of the same
songs, then placing her in bed, she arranges her animals, waits for the duckie
blanket to be draped over her, then has me kiss her on the head before leaving.
While trying to describe her belch, she said, “Mommy, there
are stinkers in my mouth”.
After getting her hair trimmed, the hair stylist asked if
she could put her hair in a ponytail.
This was her first experience with a ponytail. She felt so proud of it that she immediately
wanted to show her dad when she got home.
“I want the juice bigger.” = more juice
Named her three baby dolls: “Tennis”, “Artist Sadie” and “Boy
Baby”
Loves to pretend tea parties, birthday parties, library,
cooking at the kitchen, fighting witches, kids, and taking care of her babies.
Often turns on Avery’s keyboard and dances to the preset
songs. Also dances to the radio and asks
us to watch her.
If there is a mug or glass sitting unattended on the table,
she will usually sneak a drink.
“bird cereal” = box of fruit loops with the bird character
on the front
