Pumpkins, Trains & Play Dough

Avery hasn't quite got the concept of play dough - even after the time and effort his mom put in making it from scratch. He mainly just tried to eat it. However, there were some moments he enjoyed squishing it through his fingers and rolling it on the table with his hand like we were trying to teach him.

Campbell's Farm Pumpkin Patch

Lately, Avery has discovered that he is interested in pumpkins and tractors. We were in the fall spirit and decided to take him to a pumpkin patch. The hayride to the patch was probably the highlight of the trip since he got to watch the tractor the whole way. He kept exclaiming "trah-toh!" (tractor) as he saw it's big wheels turn from behind as it pulled all of us seating in the hay wagon. We just let Avery run loose (normally a dangerous decision) in the patch. Avery ran to several pumpkins and tried to lift them off the ground - to no avail - but we did enjoy him experience the touch, sight, sound and smell of all the things the farm had to offer.

Choo Choo Train

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ms3eBRmF57U

Avery absolutely LOVES this video. He has made the connection that there is a "choo choo" design on his blanket, a choo choo in his Thomas the Tank Engine book, and a choo choo design on his cup and plate set.
