Trunk or Treat Family Time

Ginger Oil and Beautiful Baby Hair

Avery

“ginger oil” – (ginger ale – we let Avery drink some of this when he was sick with a sore throat)

At Avery’s preschool, each student has a paper chain made up of individual paper links. Each student gets to add a link when the teacher notices that they make a good decision and vice versa. Avery made his own paper chain for his mommy and daddy and proceeded to take away our links when we made decisions that he did not like (ex. giving him a time out – after he came out of time out, he took off a link on the chain he made for us).

Avery told me that he made “poisonous soup out of rocks” at recess.

(Parents) “Go potty, please, Avery.” (Avery) “Ok! I can do it cheetah FAST!” (as he sprints to the bathroom)

“Spank my hand!!” – says Avery, happily, holding his hand in the air waiting for a high five.

For November, our family has put up a thankful garland. We are trying to write something we are thankful for each day on the leaves on the garland. I had written that I was thankful for family, friends and our church. Avery wanted to write that he was thankful for his allergy medicine.

Aileen

Once in a while, Aileen will make happy little squeaks and sounds while rolling around and playing on her blanket.

She started crawling this month. Her favorite places to crawl are down the hallway to the humidifier and into Avery’s room.

Our little girl likes to crawl up to our shoes and untie our laces. Avery thinks it’s funny and says “I’ll let her eat my shoes.”

Aileen often sits quietly, alert, taking everything in as if she is storing it in her mind and making sense of it in her own way.

Even at only eight months, Aileen’s hair is so long that I now have to comb out tangles each morning.

Papa's Visit

Patience, Patterns and Performances

1.) Avery's preschool work.

2.) Our character jar. At the times that we catch him displaying certain character traits, we allow him to place a pom pom in his jar. Once he fills the jar with pom pom's, he can pick out a treat at the store.

3.) Learning about patterns (pattern chart) and using that knowledge to paint a pattern on his flowerpot. Avery later helped plant sunflower seeds in it, and we have it on our windowsill watching/waiting for the seeds to grow.

4.) Avery can construct his alphabet letters out of various shapes. He is learning how rectangles, diagonals, "bumps" and "hooks" can form alphabet letters.

5.) Avery's preschool performance of "I'm In the Lord's Army".

6.) Avery created a shape book at preschool, as well as shape puppets. He is narrating and performing the story for Aileen and I.
