Never A Dull Moment
Some highlights in the past month:
When putting on his shoes, Avery says that his shoes "eat" his socks.
We were reading a story and Avery pointed out a camel in a picture and said that it had "speed bumps".
Instead of saying something is "mine", he declares that it is "mee's".
While brushing his hair in the morning, Avery said that "I gonna comb my hairs real nice".
Avery has often escaped from the church nursery. Many times, he will thank the person who catches him afterward.
"Avery is a funny little guy" - says this after he makes a joke
Avery noticed a hook at the top/side area of the car while sitting in his carseat. I explained that it was a hook to hang things on, and demonstrated the explanation by hanging a blanket from it. Since then, everytime he sits in his carseat, he adamantly demands that we hang his "blanquet" up on the hook.
I was trying to put cash in the machine at Wal-Mart's self check out. The machine was not taking my bill and was spitting it out after several attempts of turning it in different directions. The cashier started laughing because Avery laughed at me each instance the machine spit my bill back out.

Fingerprints
Fingerprints are something I've had to just let my type A personality accept. We have fingerprints and smudges about toddler height on our dishwasher, stove, windows, tables, etc... There are small dotted stains from a sippy cup sprinkled across our carpet. Toys and diapering/potty training stuff is scattered in most rooms of the house. Sometimes, the innocent lively chaos sends me into a cleaning frenzy. But, I hope that I am using this time to also accept and embrace my son's personality and developmental stage. This time will pass all too quickly and I will probably miss the tiny fingerprints on my sunglasses.

Sticky Notes
We run out of sticky notes pretty fast at our house. Recently, we've resorted to just cutting up scrap paper into little squares to help save a little money buying new stickies. A pad of sticky notes can be found in every room in the house as well as the glove compartments of both vehicles.
Why the obsession with sticky notes? It is because I can't remember all of the millions of little things that pop up during the day that I need to do unless I write them items down. Therefore, I try to quickly write things down and keep a pile of the used stickies to sift through later.
Many of the things I write down are funny sayings that Avery randomly comes up with. Below are some scenarios of funny or cute Avery anecdotes recorded in the past few weeks:
1.) Avery noticed my toenails were painted red. He laughed and called them "cherry toes".
2.) Our old, 1996 red Toyota Tercel needed an inspection. Avery went with Clint to take care of it. Clint explained to Avery that the car was sort of going to the doctor. Later, Avery told me that "Lightning McQueen" (our red car) went to the doctor because he had a boo boo. He got a band aid and now "is OK".
3.) One of Avery's BUM Kids teachers told me how much Avery seemed to love his raisins at snack time. This reminded me of his daddy. When Clint was little, he loved raisins too and would spend his allowance money buying them.
4.) We sometimes like to drive through the park because it is very scenic. There are speed bumps on the road to keep people from driving too fast. When Avery felt the car going over the speed bumps, and because he didn't understand the concept of a speed bump, he was very concerned that his mommy was "hitting the squirrels".
5.) Avery noticed that the large flag on the flagpole wasn't waving. I told him that it needed the wind to blow in order to wave. It wasn't waving because it wasn't windy. Avery simply said that it needed "new batteries" because "it not working".
We love the way his little mind works. : )
